FAQs When Should I Leave/Arrive?

The program begins at dinner Saturday, December 12th and ends mid-morning on Saturday, December 19th. Most participants try to arrive on the afternoon of December 12th and book flights after 1pm on December 19th. However, we are aware that some travel may require you to arrive a bit later or leave a bit earlier. You may also arrive Friday, December 11th or stay later, but must make separate, individual arrangements/reservations directly with the Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort to do so.

Yes, absolutely. We always have a good group of 'never-evers'. The Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort, with its warm water and beautiful beaches is the absolute best place to learn! (Richard and his team are perfect guides for brand new beginners).

Getting to Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort
Flying In and Out of Costa Rica

There are two international airports in Costa Rica: Liberia International Airport (LIR) and San Jose International Airport (SJO). Both airports have frequent flights from all over the United States and Canada.

The closest airport to Nosara Yoga Institute is Liberia International Airport (LIR). It is only a 2 hours scenic drive from the Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort. The Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort runs group shuttles. Closer to the retreat, we will collect your travel information and send you shuttle options for the ROLF GATES/RICHARD SCHMIDT YOGA AND SURFING RETREAT. Individual taxis are also available and we will provide you with English and Spanish directions if you are using that option.

San Jose International Airport is an alternative option as sometimes flights from the US or Canada to San Jose can be cheaper or more direct. However, there are NO Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort group shuttles from/to San Jose Airport, so getting to the Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort by road is more costly (private taxis or rental car) and takes 4 ½ hours. An alternative is taking a short plane flight from San Jose to the local airport in Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort (the local airport is only 15 minutes taxi ride from the Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort).

Departure Tax

There is a departure tax to be paid of $26 at San Jose or Liberia airport when you leave Costa Rica. It needs to be paid in cash (US$ or Costa Rican Colones) or with credit card at the airports on your departure day.

Flying to Nosara: You may take a 40 minutes flight to the domestic Nosara Airport, which is at a 15-minute drive from the Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort. (It usually requires arriving in San Jose the night before and then taking a morning flight to Nosara to assure making the connection).

There are two airlines with daily flights to and from Nosara. For schedules, fares, and bookings visit www.natureair.com OR www.flysansa.com. Once you arrive at Nosara Airport, there are always taxis waiting that can bring you to Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort. The trip costs $20 per taxi.
